From Career Crossroads to Clutter-Free Living: The Story Behind Fresh Start Organizing
When people ask how I became a professional organizer, I usually smile and say something like, “It wasn’t a straight line.” The truth is, Fresh Start Organizing wasn’t born overnight. It came from years of hustle, career shifts, life lessons, and one life-changing experience that made me re-evaluate everything.
Balancing Books, Bills, And Big Goals
I’ve always believed in hard work. During college, I juggled classes, part-time jobs, and the task of paying my own way through school. Scholarships helped lighten the load, but the late nights of studying after long shifts taught me discipline, resilience, and the art of time management. Looking back, those were the early sparks of my love for creating structure and finding order in chaos.
Climbing Ladders And Building Skills
After graduation, I ventured into a variety of industries, each one challenging me in new ways. My focus gradually shifted toward leadership: coaching teams, developing managers, and supporting people as they grew in their roles. I found a lot of joy in seeing others succeed, and I honed skills in problem-solving, communication, and building systems that made workplaces run smoother.
It wasn’t lost on me that these same skills translated beautifully into everyday life, especially when it came to organizing.
A Turning Point
Then came the hardest chapter of my life: breast cancer. Going through treatment put everything into perspective. I realized I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life in “just another job” where my impact felt hidden behind endless meetings and emails. I wanted to work in a way that was hands-on, meaningful, and aligned with my values.
Surviving cancer gave me clarity. It was the push I needed to stop waiting for the “right time” and instead create my own path.
Why Organizing?
Organizing isn’t just about pretty bins and labels. It’s about freedom. It’s about helping someone reclaim their time, their space, and their peace of mind. It lets me combine everything I’ve learned over the years: the discipline of balancing big responsibilities, the coaching skills I sharpened in leadership roles, and the resilience that comes from starting over.
Now, I get to see the direct impact of my work every day. I get to walk into cluttered, overwhelming spaces and help transform them into functional, calming environments. I get to coach clients through transitions, cheer them on when they feel stuck, and celebrate the moment they feel lighter in their own homes.
My Fresh Start…And Yours
Fresh Start Organizing is more than a business name; it’s a philosophy. It’s the way I live my life, and it’s the way I hope to inspire my clients. Whether you’re downsizing, moving, or simply craving order in your day-to-day life, I know firsthand how powerful a fresh start can be.
Because sometimes, a new beginning isn’t about moving to a new city or starting a new job. Sometimes, it’s about opening a closet, a garage, or a pantry and finally creating the space you’ve been needing to breathe.
